Sporting Park Naming
What happens when you combine a revolutionary idea, a celebrity reveal, a real-time press conference via social media, and one of the soccer industry’s best kept secrets?
For two solid weeks this killer project absorbed the bulk of our attention as it contained a lot of technical elements, but had to be kept a secret so the media would not leak the announcement. Amazingly, both the technology and the secret worked and we pulled off the day with only a minor delay as LIVESTRONG’s plane was diverted to another airport due to weather.
Our friends at Wirevibe served as development partners helped bring our concept to life. This is a single landing page, loaded with goodies: a Flash object header, Flash presentation embedded, Livestream during live event and then YouTube embedded with recorded event, Flash photo gallery, Twitter streaming api search integrated and mixed with Facebook comments (Chat About tab), a Twitter RSS feed integrated (the Reveal was done on Twitter first, with media assembled at the stadium waiting for the press conference to begin), Facebook social plugin to show Friends, Mailchimp integration to capture emails for a newsletter of updates, Facebook Connect and Twitter oauth used to authenticate people so they could make comments via both platforms, ShareThis integration, Google analytics, Woopra real-time analytics, TweetReports analytics, and popup windows with details about the partnership and Sporting Club… in short, not your ordinary landing page!
In addition, a Twitter account, Facebook page with multiple custom tabs and YouTube channel were set up to support this announcement, which would turn into a full-blown stadium site when we completed it. We were so honored to be part of this day, for what it means for Kansas City, and wish our friends at Sporting Club tremendous success with their new stadium and rebranded soccer team.
