This a perfect example of something we often do for ourselves or clients on a time or budget crunch: we find a WordPress theme with a wonderful feature or two we like, and modify the design and add to it to make it unique.
The Menu feature in this theme was a perfect fit for a deli menu, so we had our commercial photographers Westside Studio in for an all-day photoshoot to take pictures of every menu item so we could show off the food on the site. Now these beautiful photos are what we use in in-house signage and on Facebook and in ads because the best way to sell food (we believe) is to make people want to eat it. We art directed the shots, and this food was not touched up in any way – it came from the kitchen to one of the deli tables and Zach & Simon did their magic behind the lens to get these wonderful photos.
The Dinner menu is in web text, so people can copy & paste items and easily share it with their friends using the URL or sharing tools. The PDF is available as a download for people who want it. This is what every restaurant site needs to do, we believe, for greater usability and to benefit themselves by having foodies be able to share their menu with social networks and friends – a passionate foodie is a restaurant’s best friend!
Pandolfi’s is sadly now closed but we really enjoyed working with them on their branding and marketing.
